CHALLENGING CHANGE

A FRESH START

Hi,

I’m Belinda.
I have decided to start a blog, primarily for me as I hope that this will incentivise me and hold me accountable for some very necessary changes in my life. I emphatically believe in freedom of choice and we all have to accept the consequences of choices in our lives that haven’t necessarily been the best for us. This is very normal behaviour and when we realise that certain choices are impacting negatively on our behaviour, you’d think we would move away from those choices, wouldn’t you? WRONG! Sometimes we get so caught up and stuck in a pattern of behaviour that despite realising the negative repercussions and affects of that behaviour, yet we are seemingly powerless in our ability to move on or walk away.
I’m hoping, that by writing about this and confronting my destructive thought patterns and subsequent behaviour, I will be able to figure out a way of altering those perceptions that are so deep rooted and intrinsic to what or who I am. I hope that as I explore and confront these areas of my life, I will face my fears head-on and see that in some instances in life, the grass may certainly be greener on the other side.
I don’t want to set impossible goals because doing so has failed miserably throughout my life. I am an extremist and find it so difficult to appreciate and value small steps but I am going to try to recognise my progress, as insignificant as it may seem to me.
I have no idea if my posts will be frequent, regular or sporadic; long or short; continual or disjointed – this is all new to me. What I will say is that I am excited at the prospect of what may lie ahead and I am so ready and willing to rise to the challenge.
At this stage, I am on my own. I will need to have self-motivation and self-discipline in droves. Who knows, in time I may receive encouragement and support. That would be great. However, the best endorsement would be if I were able to help others through my writing even if only to identify with certain behavioural patterns that are common to us all.
